Although at first doing home office may seem like something simple, the truth is it requires discipline, organization, and commitment by the employee. Besides, it’s important that, to the extent of their possibilities, they enable a space in the house that’s exclusive for that activity.

The idea is that the space is equipped with all the convenience at their disposal, that it has good lighting and ventilation and that it's isolated from noise. We know that sometimes it will be possible and, other times, it won’t. The essential thing is to try to find that place, and try that the rest of the family respects it.

The use of a comfortable chair is also recommended in order to avoid back problems due to sitting for excessive hours. In case of not counting with one, remember you can tell your employer you have that need and, maybe, they will provide you with a solution. That also applies to any other requirement you may have that is key for the development of your work activity.

Finally, we suggest:

  • Establish a work schedule and keep the firm pledge to stick to it.
  • Respect your breaks during the day.
  • Establish limits regarding your availability outside office hours.
  • Express your emotions to your leaders.
  • Respect your mealtimes.
It’s important you remember to take care of your mental and physical health so you can be productive and adapt, as well as possible, to all the challenges that home office represents as a long-term working modality.
